U3A COMMUNITY GARDEN GROUP

Tutor:

Gwenda Bland (5155 2571)

Purpose of Course:

Our group is aimed at providing U3A members who want to grow their own vegetables, but do not have anywhere suitable to grow them, with a plot or two of soil which is their's to cultivate, grow and harvest whatever they wish, for as long as they remain in the group.

Prior knowledge required:

No prior knowledge is required, just a willingness to attend regularly and keep your patch weed free. Other experienced gardeners are very willing to give advice when asked, and there are many good books available in the Lakes Entrance library on growing vegetables, if you want to learn more.

Equipment required:

No equipment is required, as the group has an excellent collection of gardening tools and fertilisers. You will be expected to buy your own seeds, or you may prefer to buy seedlings. You could also raise your own seedlings at home, it is entirely up to you.

Location

Our garden beds are behind the Baptist Church on the highway. Enter the drive and keep to the left, parking is available at the gardens. Please respect the church property at all times, and keep your speed very low.

Cost:

Members pay $20 per year to cover the cost of fertilisers & water.
